Clio dCi 80 Winter Diesel Consumption
I noticed at the beginning of the winter that the diesel consumption in my Clio increased. It was easy to spot given that I drive it on the same route to and from work every day, and that its fuel guage is a series of graduated lights.
When I first bought the car (new), the first light would go out at 80 miles, the second at 160 and so on. Come the winter, the first light would go out at 70 miles, the second at 140, with a corresponding increase in consumption across the whole tankful. This week, with the sudden increase in temperature, I have gone back to 80 miles; 82.2 this morning, in fact.
Am I imagining things, or do diesels use more fuel in the winter? This is my first diesel, so I do not speak from experience.
All advice gratefullly received!
