I'm not 100% sure how Renault work, but other manufacturers usually have a group of technical 'experts' that will visit the dealer and look at the car themselves. This is usually arranged by the dealer themselves and you don't have to organise anything.
My brother had a new Zafira in which the engine failed (big style) after just 6 months. The technical support boffins came down to the dealer where the car was being repaired and looked at the internals of the engine and said it was down to manufacturer error and gave the go ahead for a complete new engine to be fitted.I believe they took the old unit away for inspection.I suspect that Renault work in a similar way and their group will come down and look at the car and they will decide the next course of action. We do have Renault Techs that visit the forum and hopefully they will be able to tell you if the above is the case.
