The problem on these cars setup is that the lamp clusters share a common earth through a stupidly small pin like all the others in the cluster. Any deterioration in this area will instantly cause an earth fault as the current is using its most efficient route to ground - be that illuminating whatever bulb is easiest or in severe cases causing other electrical maladies!
Meganes can suffer earth problems where the passenger compartment fan control turns the wipers on !
