Having a bit of a mare with one thing or another on my beloved lag 2 !

Anyway last weekend ( in the snow!) I replaced the rear suspension bushes and fitted a pair of KYB shocks and springs to the front after suffering a broken spring .

The top nut was torqued up after the car was back down on it's wheels and the springs are sitting against the stops top and bottom ,
but the car is sitting very high at the front end !

I have read some comments about it settling down ,but I have my doubts .

what have I done wrong ?

thanks in advance

Not normally that many miles,,, How high is front sitting,
Its not because back end springs and shocks are weak, and thats why it looks so high at the front, ( backend is really down)

Bu55er

Spring rate different
Spring length different
Strut length different
Bit of all.
Or just needs time to settle but must admit a week ought to do it.

Can jack up car and play with a tape measure to get an idea on struts but springs would need to come out for a comparison check.
And that is no guarantee that spring rate isn't different.

Don't really know what to suggest.

When it comes to suspension springs Lagna II's can be fickle. I have seen after-market springs that either are too stiff or too soft and some that just don't sit right on their seats either top or bottom. In fact when new each spring is individually matched using a colour code and if you go to Renault they will ask you the colour coding so they can get the best match.

Thanks the reply Noel . I didn't realise that it was that involved and looking at the old girl I would say the are too stiff , the ends of the springs are located correctly in both the upper rubber mount and also the tang on the strut itself . I'll give it another couple of weeks to see if it drops at all then re-evalute . If you do a Google search of what my problem is it throws up loads of people who have had a similar problem with all different makes and models of car , must be something to do with crappy aftermarket springs . The stupid thing is the car seems to drive so much better now too.

cheers all .

Hi

take your tape measure with you when you go shopping and find another car same as yours and take some measurements from that. It may be your front is now right & it is the back ones now showing their age.

Thanks Alan , I have owned 3 mk2 laguna's and have had this one for 3 years , so I know how the front clearance from wheel/tyre to arch should look .
It is definitely the front sitting high . Appreciate the input tho' and I bet in many cases that is the case .
