Power Steering Pipes

I have a 1998 Renault Laguna RT.
The power steering pipes have corroded by where they fit into the steering and is leaking badly.
I have been informed by my local Renault dealer, that the parts are discontinued.
I am now researching some other sites in looking for the parts, including France.
Can anybody tell me that assuming I find the parts, have you got to drop the sub-frame, to be able to gain access to these pipes??
I have a Haynes manual for my car, but it does not cover replacing the power steering pipes.
If I cannot find the parts, then unfortunately I will have to scrap the car, which will be a shame, as I have had it since 1999 and it's still in good condition, with only 52,000 miles on the clock.
Many Thanks
David Brown.

Ever Considered PirTek? Branches in Major Cities.
Made me a Brake pipe for my BMW bike when it failed spectacularly in Northern Ireland. Just take original as a pattern.
There are other high pressure pipe manufacturers too.

did a power steering pipe(s) on a 1998 laguna years ago around 2004 and replaced with good s/hand as new were silly money... didn't have to drop any subframe iirc also although 2 pipes I 'think' you have to do together as fixing points brackets are 'welded' to both. car was a 1.8 's' reg (my old brother-in-laws)
those pipe people will copy your pipes, won't be cheap but may save car.

Many thanks for all your replies so far.
I still haven't had any luck with finding the new pipes yet, but one has told me that the prices for the two new pipes would be about £300.
The car would have to go into a garage for the work to be done, as I am a bit too old to have a go at that now.
I will go and have a chat with my local small garage in the village and see what he advises.

Because Renault main do not sell them, does not mean they are not out there..
There is somewhere on here, a link to Renault parts catalogue.
Someone should be able to find you the thread, then you can use this to find the part number, then paste the part number in your tinternet search bar..

You could end up with a :grin2:

I sent the parts list drawing and indicated the two pipes required to my local Pirtek depot at Plymouth and they have replied "[FONT=&quot] Unfortunately we are unable to form the pipes you’ve indicated".
Should I be sending this enquiry to another Pirtek Depot??
Many thanks
