OK I'll state what I (think I) know, as gathered from the owners manual. If you disagree pipe up.
- The old key can be resynched if it stops working.
- The engine immobiliser can be turned off if the infra red key is lost, by entering the 4 digit code given on purchase, or by calculating this code from the bba-reman website. Beneficial since the engine immobiliser is controlled by the infra red key alone.
- The engine immobiliser is re-activated when you use the (original) IR key.
- There is no way to program a new infra red key to the car without forking out 100+ quid to Renault.
