I think car manufacturers generally are slapping in far too many bells and whistles these days. Focus groups might answer 'yes' to the the question 'would you like feature x?', but I don't equate that to genuine consumer demand.
Until twenty years ago cars were scrapped because of major engine trouble, or more likely because of rusting. I wonder how many cars now are scrapped simply due to the failure of an non-essential electric thingummybob, that'll cost the value of the car to have fixed?
