I found that a lot of the TomTom speed limits were wrong too. I don't tend to pay much attention to that feature.
As for speed cameras, the PocketGPS World ones are probably still the best. They're cheaper than TomTom too, and if you're the first to report a new fixed camera (which must be subsequently verified by another user) you get a free lifetime subscription.
One problem I had with the PocketGPS camera database is that it registers some motorway bridge cameras as being on the road over the motorway rather than on the motorway itself. If you set the TomTom software to only alert you to cameras on your route, then it fails to alert you to these cameras. If you set it for a simple proximity warning, then it's forever telling you about cameras on roads that you're just passing close to.
