New Brakes - Problem?

After 55k on the original brake pads I have eventually had to get the pads changed all round on my 2004 Laguna II 1.8Expression.
Got the pads and brake fluid changed at a local gargae yesterday and although the braking efficiency of the car is about the same (bearing in mind bedding in) the pedal seems to have more travel and doesn't seem to have a final 'bite' where it becomes rock solid (hope this makes sense).
What should I do, get back to the garage to recheck they have been bled properly or wait a while for them to bed in properly, or is this normal? Of course I could wait a while and if there is no improvement get back to the garage.
Your thought please!
