Anybody else ,like me,suspect the Diesel Emissions Test on the MOT to blame for

0252 plate Sport-tourer initiale 1.9dci regularly serviced at renault dealer for three years: 90,000 miles no problem.
Post first mot :
Cat problem ,down-pipe problem , suspected cat break-up and deposit in back-box,inter-cooler problem,
-problem resulting in renault yellow O.C.S.??
Can it really do a diesel engine good to rev it to governor three times on a static test ?
Surely there must be a less damaging way to ascertain full emission diagnosis
Any tecs care to give their three penneth???
