Just need to find that extra 50rpm, then...
Even if sorting the clearances doesn't raise the rpm (and I'm not sure it would?) I'm sure it will feel nicer at idle. Although even now, with the tappetty tappets, it's so abnormally quiet that I occasionally think I've stalled.
I also spent an enjoyable quarter of an hour tightening/loosening the exhaust pipe, trying to 'tune' my vibrations between body, engine and exhaust. It's incredible how little rotation is needed: an eighth of a turn made a real difference.
