The Clio, on the other hand, is bought and paid for. Once it's out of warranty, we can expect big bills if certain things go wrong.
To be brutally honest, I wouldn't consider owning a Renault without a warranty. Our game plan when it comes to our owned car is:
1) Keep buying new, or no more than a couple of years old
2) Invest a few hundred quid in the Harmony warranty, for as long a duration as is practical
3) Flog the car before the warranty expires
Though trading in to a Renault dealer is probably the only option that'll give a decent price. Still, there's a lot of Renault/Nissan dealers now, so you might be able to move over to a Nissan and still get a decent deal on the Renault.
Yep, your plan makes sense. The Espace will be going later this year before it's 3 years old although I think that £800 for the 2 year extended Harmony warratny isn't bad value.
