Idle has dropped, if anything - 730rpm or thereabouts - and still with that flutter. Never feels in danger of stalling, though, and also appears more immediately responsive when driving (this might be in my head, of course).
The old sensor looks like this. Not the best pic, but you can see the bleaching (or rather 'build up of silicates from antifreeze')...
