I guess like most manufacturer's they could extend the anti perforation warranty to 20 years, because you have to fight, and I mean FIGHT like
to get any work done with it.
My old Lag 1 had a very small patch of rust on the near side back wing, the car was about 10 months old and had previously been owned by an independent Renault dealer. Unfortunately this dealer went belly up before I noticed this small patch of rust.
I approached Renault Uk who told me the affected part of the rear wing had been resprayed, they also told me if I could conclusively prove the work had been carried out to Renaults procedures, then I might have a case which they could take up. HTF could I provide proof of what had happened before I owned the car.
In the end I DIY it,
it was pretty good too.
