If you're thinking about a model that late, I'd try and get hold of a 2.0dCi. I think they came in late-2005/early-2006, but they seem a much better engine than the 1.9s.
failures, they're more powerful, supposed to be more frugal, and they have a duplex chain rather than a cam belt
I'd second that. There's a few different flavours of the 2.0 now - 130bhp in the lower spec models, 150bhp in the higher ones, and 175bhp in the GT only.
As the owner of a late model 1.9 (dCi 130FAP) that blew its
and shredded the engine, I'd say there's no such thing as a 'safe bet' 1.9. The petrol engines, on the other hand, have generally been pretty good apart from the 2.0
. The later 2.0
, while not as good to drive as the
, shouldn't give you too much to worry about.
Most other problems (suspension bushes etc.) are common to all models regardless of the engine.
