I have an MOT certificate!

Him: "CO emissions are barely registering. What did you do, just the tappets?"

Me: "I changed the lambda sensor too. I thought you said you didn't think sorting the valve clearances would make enough of a difference?"

Him: "Ah. Yes..."

Still, I didn't get charged for pre-MOT emissions testing, so just the half-price retest fee.

Thinking about it, the car's been getting around 7.5 miles a litre on long runs and 6 (at a push) around London. At 9000 miles a year that's 13-1400 litres. If all this work has improved fuel economy by 20% then that's a 300 saving in a year.

The engine's running so beautifully I can now properly tune into the driveshaft noises
