Just a thought, but Could it be a faulty or dirty card reader ? Place the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner near the card reader flap and open it up to hoover it out, it may help ?
Or like Donald said, something to do with the battery connections / ignition system. Could be the connection to the starter motor solenoid is dirty / loose ???
A dodgy battery (failed cell in the battery) can also cause intermittent problems such as non starting.
Probably easiest thing to do is vacuum out the card reader and to get the battery load tested to see if its the battery.
