yes the temp guage does do the same , but thats not as important as the fuel guage.
I'd say it was the other way round. If your temp DOES go high and your gauge says it is low then you wouldn't know till it dies then that is expensive whereas if you run out of fuel when you think you have got some left then that is just embarrasing and a damaged cat at the most really.
My fuel gauge does it now and again, always in the same position and time but doesn't bother me really. If I fill my tank then set off, after 60miles its drops to about 3/4 full maybe a bit lower then when I hit about 150miles in distance it settles at just over 3/4 and goes back to normal as it should be.
