Yep, I reckon they'd be worth a mint. But are you seriously saying that transferring plates has got easier? Either it's happened in the last few years, or it must have been a nightmare going way back.

I bought a cheap and cheerful 'cherished plate' for the wife's Orion (it was a wedding anniversary present.) It was annoying enough having to jump through hoops to get it on the car, but when we realised what was going to be involved in transferring it to the Clio, we decided to just stick it on retainer and offload it onto fleabay.

If you have some minion to do all of the queueing at the DVLA office for you (or are prepared for the tedium of doing it by post) then I suppose they're great. Otherwise, I don't think they're worth the hassle unless you have something really special.

On the subject of registrations. I only realised it the other day, but my car has a RenaultForums numberplate, starting with "RF55"
