.......are you seriously saying that transferring plates has got easier? Either it's happened in the last few years, or it must have been a nightmare going way back.

Had no experience of moving plates around - never could see the point with the vast majority of them and the 'clever' plates are ridiculous money. I had assumed that once the DVLC brought in the scheme they had made it easier 'cos its a revenue generator!

In the 70's the DVLC had no mechanism by which you could legitimately do it, (although there were long-winded work-arounds).

It would seem from your experience that its still a pain to do?

It always worried me that there is a 'clause' in the regulations that states that they have the right to take the Reg No. back if they want it for whatever reason.......( like an MP fancies it?)

Oh what a cynic I'm becoming......
