Cheers mate! it was the fuse but, to anyone else reading this, not the one in the fuse box! there is a 2nd fuse on the back of the radio itself, and as we all know the radio is under the drivers seat! it takes about half an hour to change this one!
Remove the drivers seat, remove the radio cover, slide hand under carpet to where the ISA cables connect to the radio and carefully feel for a 10a standard blade fuse tucked away next to the cables. Change it if blown and then bolt everything back together the way you found it!
Why they couldn't put the damn thing in the fuse box with the rest of them is a mystery! on the plus side I didn't need a code. lol
