If you have a close look at the intercooler it may have split (it's alongside the radiator)
The vacuum pipes go to the turbo solenoid which in turn leads to the turbo wastegate. The solenoid is situated close to the right hand suspension unit. It may also be worth checking out the turbo pressure sensor. Black smoke is usually the result of the engine not getting enough air - a failed intercooler would cause this symptom.
