many thanks for the excellent guide for bonnet release troubles.

She who must be obeyed has a Laguna P1. Today I found on wanting to check oil etc that the bonnet would not de-latch. Luckily not a snapped cable but the latches seized up beyond the lever mechanism to release.

Many thanks to Spiro' it was fixed as per, much credit to Spiro'!
I removed the latches gave them a good clean and then lubricated. The catch bars that the latches engage with (fixed to the bonnet) had also corroded adding friction. Cleaned them with wire wool paint and greased, seems to be OK.
A small addition came to mind and that is put a little white paint on the plastic cable arms underside. Makes it much easier to spot it while under the car - bonnet closed with all the black items in the black even with a light it was not easy to spot. Just in case it happens again…
