If the mounting is damaged it may not be picked up during the MOT as a safety issue but if it is damaged and gets worse it may lead to further problems such as damaged exhaust, etc. If the mount is constantly carrying the load of the engine a split may not be easily obvious and may only be seen when removed. Have you tried applying the handbrake firmly and try to move off in first gear and then reverse to see if there is any movement in the engine. It may be cheaper to get it fixed now than wait till it costs more. I have seen the top engine mount give trouble without any outward signs of damage.
