I know this is of absolutely no use, but I thought I would tell the story!

We had a Punto with the same kind of problem. When you pressed the down switch, you could hear a 'click' then another 'click' a second later from the window motor, but it would stay closed. Other times it would work fine. I replaced the complete window motor and mechanism, but the fault remained

When it was working I greased all the runners and guides, still no fix.

Gave up with it in the end, but it seemed like when the window was closed, there was too much resistance for the window motor to get it moving.

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow...
