Can you believe that someone actually posted this today? Obviously some people do not research before they utter their opinions. Anyway this is what they wrote:

I am not anti those who have had problems, I feel for them. But there have to be two catches on every car bonnet if they open at the front, as that Clio does. So for the bonnet to fly open either both catches have failed, which has never been suggested, or the bonnet was not closed properly, so was relying only on the safety catch, not the main one.
This is an unsafe way to drive, and should be noticed by the driver in normal circumstances.
Now it might be that there is a problem in the adjustment on these main catches (which are steel by the way, and require lubrication) so that they are hard to close properly. This is certainly not the case though on ours.
It is also notable that VOSA have also not seen a problem with this, and also say it is down to incorrect use and lack of maintenance.
