I think a more interesting way of looking at this problem is this. Are the bonnet catches fit for purpose if maintained correctly or is there an inherent design fault or is it both. Anything I have read to date neither seems to confirm or deny this. The lack of firm technical information seems to be either not available or is being ignored by both sides of the argument. For instance has any sound independent tests been carried out. I appreciate this is a serious safety issue but I think it will just get shoved around unless it has some sound scientific backing. If it is due to an inherent design fault surely there would have been many more incidents not only in this country but elsewhere over the world.
