Ah, a thought just occured to me.
Most cars have 2 wipers which are different to each other either (in length), or more commonly - the one in front of the driver has some kind of aerofoil on it to ensure a good clean sweep which will disperse the water. It may well be due to a RHD wiper fitted in a LHD sweep pattern which accounts for the wipers' inability to sit the same way.
