All it may require is for the tyre to be reseated - many tyre fitters have a special compound for such. If the rim is badly damaged it may well worth changing the sensor to the spare but unless you get another wheel you could end up with a constantly deflating tyre as a spare (not a good idea).
Any tyre fitter will advise that there is no guarantee the sensor can be removed without the risk of damage.
