Are Renaults unreliable?
I currently a 1.9DCi Scenic, which I now like. I had to get a tuning box to remove the dreadful hole in the power delivery though. But overall I like the car and so far itís been very good. For a diesel it seems quiet, smooth and of course itís economical.
I did have one very bad experience with a 98 Espace which seemed to be plagued with every fault going. But every other Renault I've had has been good. My family have Renaults too and theirs have been mainly ok.
Yet it seems whenever I talk about cars with people, I get the ďRenaults you can keep themĒ attitude? It appears everyone I come into contact with has either had a problematic Renault or knows someone with one!
For instance; I have just had a photocopier engineer here repairing our copier. Chatting to him whilst he worked I enquired if he had a nice weekend etc. HE said never better as he had finally got rid of his dog of a car, which turned out to be a 2003 Scenic DCi. I said that I had one and liked it. He wished me good luck with it but said it was his first and last Renault. No end of trouble with electrical problems, dire full consumption, rattling trim, the list was near endless. He said every time he was at the Dealers he met more disgruntled Renault owners with similar problems. Are Renaults really this bad or am I just talking to the unlucky few?
