CVH engines were very good for tuners and when you look back at the xr3i's and rs they were good for there day Ive never disliked them myself
I always like the CVH too. As you said great tuners, some stock 1.6's put out 105bhp where the same CC zetec 16valvers only delivered 90bhp. RS turbos were tunable to well over 200 bhp possibly close to 300 in some cases.
They still use the 1.6 CVH in the Street Ka and Sport Ka, it has been renamed, can't remeber what to though! Not bad for a design that must be coming up to 40 years old! Saying that the 1.3 OHV in the normal KA is an even older design!
The 1.4's weren't as tunable as the head and ports were all different. Bottom end was basicly the same though just samller. I know what dave means with the smoke screen. I had a 1.4 CVH escort that drank as much
as fuel! Engine went pop on the return from Alton towers. Approx 400 mile trip!
