I did'nt use any primer on scrap metal, did'nt think it would make that much differance after five coats, (the metal was clean & bright).
If i try to spray it thicker does'nt that give an orange peel effect ?, i have'nt tried it on the car as yet, i want to get a good match first.
In answer to your question no. Spraying a thicker coat will actually give less chance of an "orange peel"
With a thicker coat the paint will "flow out" better.
Again using a spraycan it is virtually impossible to get "orange peel". It is normally down to the spraying technique and air pressure used when using a spraygun.
