If the oil pressure warnig light is illuminating it could be an oil pump problem or a sticking oil pressure release valve - both of which could lead to engine failure. On the other hand it could be a duff oil pressure switch or some of its connections. If it were mine I would first check out the oil level indicator. It may also be worth replacing the oil pressure switch as they ain't too expensive. In my opinion it is not a problem that should be ignored as the cost of engine damage could be more than the vehicle is worth
