With the engine off check the voltage over the battery with your multimeter .... +ve to +ve ( red to red ) and -ve to -ve ( black to black ) If the battery is ok you should see a reading of approx 12v. Any lower indicates either a fooked battery or the alternator isn't charging.
With the engine running do the same checks as above but you should see a voltage of 14.5v ( ish ) If this is ok then it's probably the battery that's died ..... if it's any lower ( less than 12v ) then it's the alternator.
I'm not sure of the location of the alternator on the clio engine but it's driven by a belt located at the drivers side of the engine. It looks a bit like a small washing machine motor .... although that might not be of any help
Check the drive belt is ok ..... not missing etc and also check the multiplug on the rear of the alternator hasn't come adrift.
