Had that happen on 2 gearboxes on an M reg Escort I had, on it's 3rd the mian shaft was sent through the bell housing very weak is the IB5!

That resulted in a loud bang and loss of drive, but I knew when it was going to happen as made a wirring sound first, Just thought here we go again!

Were there any unsual noises heard before the loud bang? Deffo sounds like a new gearbox jobbie though, can't see it being the clutch or half shafts. Especialy if they're fairly new.
Currently in Mikey's garage:
1996 Mazda MX-3 V6, a 2002 1.2 8v Fiat Punto active (the Wife's!) and a 1998 Suzuki GN 125. Used to own a 2002 Laguna II Dynamique 1.8 16V (Now Sold yey!)
