Hi J iam sorry can't help you with the tyre sensors but there has been a few cases of the mechanism catches popping off from within the door paneling itself,i had to go investigating in the past and there are torque style screw down each side of the back door paneling, well there is on my 2002 Mk III Phase III but iam not sure about your 2003???and with torque style Allen keys you can just get to them from inside the car with the door closed, there are a few screws also at the handle area when it is lifted up that you use to pull the back door down with to shut it and they will also need to be removed, you then should be able to remove the door panel from the inside to gain access to all the working parts,i hope it is something simple and iam sure another member will be along soon to give you advice on the tyre sensors and i hope this helps all the best Donald
