Window Regulator Help Needed
Just suffered the common electric window regulator fault on my 2000 Renault Scenic. Took the door panel off to find the broken plastic clip and broken wire, as mentioned in the forums. Would never normally tackle something like this, but getting married next month, so need to save every penny I can, so a garage repair is out.
Found lots of advice on sourcing replacement parts on
, which I plan to do, but got a few queries.
- Can anyone post instructions on refitting, preferably with photos? Lots of people have said they will do this, but i've not been able to find anyone that has actually done it.
- Do window regulators come with the plastic clip thing? Having looked at all the pics on
, I can't see it. No one has mentioned this on the forums, so presumably I'm wrong.
- Some people have mentioned that the electronic fittings on the replacement parts don't sometimes match those on the Renault, resulting in the need for wire stripping and the like. Does anyone know of a supplier that supplies parts that fit without the need for such alterations? I know many of you will say it's really easy, but it's way beyond my own technical abilities.
- And finally, bit cheeky, but can anyone offer me a hand? As I said, it's not something I'd normally tackle, so know i'm going to have problems. Not asking for anyone to fit it particularly (although wouldn't stand in your way if you'd do it cheaply enough), am more after someone being on hand to give tips on refitting and tell me when i'm putting it in back to front or something. I live near Chesterfield in Derbyshire.
