I'm not sure about the colour codes, but I fitted the permanent install kit for my TomTom GO the other day, and it went off without a hitch. The only small problem I found was that the Renault loom doesn't appear to have ignition live on the standard pin. The manual for the TomTom kit mentions this, and there's a method for swapping the power pin on the TomTom loom. Once I'd done this, it worked fine (apart from annoying electrical noise when the GO speaks through the car speakers, which I think it's picking up from the Carminat control panel.)

I'd just check for +12v on the appropriate pins with respect to a separate ground (e.g. the outer shell of the cigarette lighter, or the screw on one of the courtesy light door switches.) Also check that your ground pin stays as ground even when the side lights are on (a lot of people confuse the dimming wire for ground because it earths through the bulbs when the lights are off.) Once that's out of the way, check the resistance of ground to a good earthing point on the chassis. If all checks out well, there's little else that can go wrong.
