So for people who have autos why did you buy them
I was always into manuals , GTI's and enjoyed a bit of spirited driving so would dismiss an auto as an old mans car

But I started driving autos at work, generally big powerful cars and its effortless, with sequential and/or tiptronic boxes you have the best of both worlds.

At the same time we needed a new car for my wife when the first little one arrived and we test drove an auto. My wife was converted, she's someone who drives because it's a convenient way of getting around with the kids, as she mainly drives on urban roads, with plently of stop start driving its just easier.

Her latest car is an auto with tiptronic, and I've still got a manual.

I'll back all this up by saying a good auto box is a joy, but if the car is a bit underpowered or has a dodgy box go for a manual.
