Not sure if it is 28 or 30 days, but 31 days in advance and you lose the extra month.

Apparently it is all to do with the new computerised MOT system to prevent the isue of false MOT certificates. The system will not allow you to enter a date more than 12 months and 28/30 days.

As long as you take the car in less than28/30 days in advance you WILL get the Mot for 12 mths plus the extra days.

This is what we were told by our Nissan Main dealer that carried out the MOT on our Peueot 206 the other week.

That's progress for you. Although I am glad that they are at last tightening up on the issue of MOT certificates.
