HELP with central locking NOT immboliser

Hi have done a search of all the FAQ's and threads about this subject but still I'm confused.
I have a Clio 1149cc Grande year 2000 and recently lost one of my two keys.
I took the remaining key to Timpsons who used it to cut a new key with a built in transponder. However they could not provide a fob with an integral remote to operate the central locking.
I'm assuming they copied the transponder code to the new key rather than creating a new one.

So I now have an original key that operates the central locking and starts the car ok.
The other key (the new key) will manually open the door and also starts the car ok.

So here is my question.
Can I get a secondhand key and cut the blade off so I'm left with just the fob, then synchronise the fob using one of the methods shown elsewhere on the forum so it operates the central locking only. I do not intend to use it to operate the immoboliser.

Thanks for reading, hope you can help.
