Flat Battery When Doors Left Open For One Hour
Here is a really curious problem. When I leave the doors of my Feb 05 Espace IV 2.0 T petrol open for more than an hour (say when I am cleaning it etc.) with the engine off then the battery goes completely flat.
I checked the alternator and is providing a good 14+v and the battery is charging when the engine is running, the battery goes from 12.5v to 7v ish in an hour, after 2 hours its completely gone. I asked at the local dealer who suggested that it might not be the battery itself, but one of the electrical components might be faulty and draining the battery very quickly. I can only suspect one of the internal lights or the handsfree card for opening/starting. Does anyone know if there are any known issues with the handsfree card that might cause a flat battery in such a small space of time.
When the doors are closed and the car locked the battery is fine even after leaving for weeks on end.
Any other ideas greatly appreciated.
