I would check out the difference in the price of insuring a 2litre against a 3litre,especially as your other half will be a new driver.

If I had a choice I'd for a 3litre 24valve Lag1 phase 2.This is the same engine as Peugeot used in the 406,and we look after 3 of these at work.So far they've proved to be almost bomb proof,although fuel consumption is a bit scary sometimes!

I personally wouldn't bother with the earlier 12valve 3 litre motors.They really aren't that great......

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
