DespyDan: As a dealer technican we certainly would NOT have checked the date codes on the coils for the "dodgy batch"..

Why? If the vehicle was running ok at the time of the service then the coils were OK.. It which case there is no reason to replace the coils at that time.. (as the dodgy batch may never fail)

So a few weeks later one or more of the coils fail.. You get all 4 replaced under warranty as the renault Tech docs state..
