As for the handsfree not operating the deadlocks, I think that's a necessary safety feature to prevent you from accidentally trapping your passengers in the car. I've had the handsfree system lock my passengers in the car countless times - usually when I walk off to pay at a petrol station. Without the deadlocks, the doors can still be opened from the inside.

I'd still be happy if you could deadlock the car with the card, but still unlock it again by breaking one of the handle light beams when you returned. It's just annoying that, by using the deadlocking, you completely disable the handsfree functionality until the next time you press the 'Start' button. As a result, I rarely deadlock my car, and I doubt many other handsfree Renault owners do either. I wonder how long it'll be before the crooks get wise to this... or whether they already have

On the Scenic with the " Handsfree card you either press the buttons twice on the door handles this activates the deadlocking and total closure if fitted or you press the keycard lock button twice.

If the deadlock feature is used you cannot open the car from the inside.

On return to the car if you break the beam between the handles the car will unlock or by pressing the unlock button on the keycard.

A different system on the Scenic II and I think a better one.

It does not have the function where if you moved away from the car it automatically locks or opens if you approach the car.

My card never leaves my pocket all four doors have a button fitted on the exterior handle as does the boot so you can lock/unlock the car from any door
