Driving in France.......... an add on !

Warning to you holiday drivers over here........

I noticed on monday when heading to Paris that the Gendarmes were at the péage du Chamant (just before Charles de Gaulle) on the A1 south out of Calais.

They were armed with their speed calculation gear.

Basically the plug into the péage computer system and for every ticket that is checked they get a display of the time you entered the Autoroute, and the time you arrive at the barriere du péage, calculate your distance & time & therefore your speed.

If you have been speeding: THEY WILL KNOW and pull you over at the péage and then hit you with the 120€ on the spot fine.

I personally use the Téle-péage system but if you must speed on the French Autoroutes - then DON'T !! - unless you can afford it.

Otherwise during the journey, stop for a pee or coffee to increase your average journey-time....... just in case.
