check also for water leaking into the air box, water in the motor assy will cause it to start to sieze, the extra load consumed will certaintley burn out a few resistors if not noticed, have been there myself, the leak wasnt mentioned by the customer as he either didnt think it relevant or hadn't noticed, only reason i noticed was i removed the motor to check it following 3 resistors in as many months, found dampness inside the motor assy and signs of corrosion, and yes the motor was stiff compared to a new unit, replaced the motor over a year ago and so far no probs, getting the root cause is sometimes difficult so be patient.
