Fair point - the Ford will probably be cheaper to run overall. It definitely feels solid and drives nice but the rattly dash is a real pain. And 38mpg on a long 60-70mph motorway run is very poor.
I'm definitely tempted by a scenic. Or maybe I should give up on this idea of diesel economy and go back to petrol power.....
My 2.0l Scenic I manages 38.6 mpg on a 100 mile motorway run, if that helps
