My neighbour fits the tracking equipment on trucks - mainly fresh food trucks and the system actually monitors the storage temp and humidity and feeds this info back to a company computer apparently to prove to their suppliers that he products have been transported correctly. Many of the drivers he meets think this system is big brother gone mad but recently the equipment was able to prove the vehicle was out of the country when it was purportedly tracked speeding on the M1 in the UK - so it ain't all bad. Also some companies penalise their drivers for driving too many hours. (strange times indeed) This not only helps them comply with the law but also helps reduce insurance costs.
My neighbour is of the opinion honest drivers have nothing to fear and such systems are vital when transporting dangerous flammable goods
