Last week I was lucky enough to arrive at my Father laws house after he'd already called out the AA because the car wouldn't start, knowingly I said to him "This will be a clean up of the
sensor" 10 mins later the guy arrived and did a quick look round the engine and pronounced he thought it was the
sensor it took a few minutes to get it out because the battery had on his Scenic to be removed, the only thing he did different to what davesss posted was he didn't use any abrasive paper, all he used to clean the tip was rag and WD40
The pickup point, for the
sensor is on the top of the flywheel, which on Renaults is on the RH side of the engine looking from the Rad.
BTW if you, have to remove your batttery, make sure you have the radio code before you do.
